Webster County 69, Apollo 65

The Apollo Eagles had a 10-point lead going into the fourth but Webster County roared back to grab the victory Friday night in Dixon.

The Trojans won the game 69-65 despite a game-high 22 points from Apollo’s Cameron Franz.

After a strong first frame, Apollo and Webster were tied 31-31 at the break when the Eagles caught fire in the third.

AHS dropped 23 points, including four 3-pointers from Franz in the frame.

Webster outscored the Eagles 25-11 in the final quarter as the Trojans finished with three players in double figures.

Hunter McNaughton (19), Destin Allen (19) and Aaron Harmon (18) all led Webster in the win.

Landon Hamilton also finished in double digits with 15 points for the Eagles.

Apollo (1-3) plays today at home against South Warren.

Owensboro Catholic 73, Central Kentucky Homeschool 61

The Owensboro Catholic Aces grabbed another victory Friday at the Sportscenter as they took down Central Kentucky Homeschool behind 38 points from junior guard Brian Griffith.

The Aces won the match 73-61 as they’ve won four of their first five games by double digits.

Catholic jumped out to a 16-5 lead after the first and led 33-24 at the break before putting the game away in the second half.

Of Griffith’s 38 points, 18 of them came in the fourth quarter for the Aces. Parker Gray also finished in double digits with 13 points.

Gabe Skaggs led Central Kentucky Homeschool with 33 points.

Catholic plays Monday at home against Central Hardin.

Edmonson County 63, Trinity 47

After Covid pushed back the start to their season, the Trinity Raiders were dealt a loss to start the year as they fell to Edmonson County at home.

Edmonson held Trinity to four points in the first frame as they grabbed at 63-47 victory.

Raider junior Landon Huff finished with a game-high 19 points to lead all scorers as he also went 8-of-10 from the charity stripe in the loss.

Landon Smith also finished in double digits for Trinity with 15 points.

Chaz Wilson led Edmonson County with 15 points while Daniel Woosley and Gavin Rose each added 12 in the win.

Trinity plays today against Cloverport in the Agrigold Winter Classic at the Owensboro Sportscenter.

Breckinridge County 61, Apollo 55 (OT)

The Apollo E-gals dropped their first game against a 3rd Region opponent this season as they fell to Breckinridge County on the road Friday.

The Lady Tigers needed overtime to take down AHS as Breck won the matchup 61-55.

Apollo led 40-35 heading into the final frame but a short bench hindered the E-gals as the Lady Tigers forced overtime where they eventually grabbed the win.

Amaya Curry led the E-gals with 24 points while Shelby Beatty (13 points) and Zoe Floyd (10 points) also delivered solid games for Apollo.

Aleigha Mucker led Breck with 20 points in the win.

Apollo plays Monday at Webster County in a rematch from the season opener where the E-gals beat the Trojans 66-61 in overtime.

Edmonson County 67, Trinity 42

The Trinity Lady Raiders start the season 0-2 after they fell to Edmonson County Friday in Whitesville.

The Lady Cats won the game 67-42 behind a trio of double-digit scorers.

Edmonson held a narrow 33-31 lead heading to the fourth quarter but its offense exploded in the final frame as the Cats scored 34 points to seal the victory.

Macie McCombs (19), Katie Lindsey (16) and Lily Jane Vincent (16) all led Edmonson County.

Josie Aull finished with 17 points to lead the Lady Raiders.

Trinity hits the court again today at the Owensboro Sportscenter as it takes on Cloverport in the Agrigold Winter Classic.
