Apollo 12, Webster County 0

The Apollo Eagles bounced back after Wednesday’s loss to Breckinridge County with a dominant victory over Webster County Thursday in Dixon.

The Eagles cruised by the Trojans 12-0 for their second win of the year.

Tyler Payne picked up the win with five innings on the hill and seven strikeouts while only allowing three hits.

Tanner Klee (2-5, RBI 2 R), Nick Judd (2-4, 3 R), Maxwell Holder (2-3, 2 RBI, 2 R), Dan St. Clair (2-3 RBI), Dayton Brown (1-3, 2 R) and Harrison Bowman (2 R) all contributed to the Eagles’ offense.

Apollo hits the field today when they travel to Grayson County.

Hancock County 10, Owensboro 9 (8 innings)

After the rough start and seven total errors, the Owensboro Red Devils forced the Hancock County Hornets to extra innings Thursday but it was the home team that emerged victorious in Hawesville.

The Red Devils fell behind 7-2 after the third inning before they exploded for seven runs in the fourth inning. Hancock added two in the sixth before winning the game 10-9 in eight innings.

Ethan Gibson was a big part of Owensboro’s offensive onslaught in the fourth inning as he took a pitch over the fence for a home run. Gibson finished 2-4 on the day with four RBIs and a run.

Blake Kimbrell was the only other Red Devil with multiple hits as he went 2-3. Caden Ray added two RBIs and two runs in the loss.

Owensboro (1-2) plays Monday at home against Union County.
