3rd Region All “A” Classic Championship: Owensboro Catholic 4, Hancock County 2
The Owensboro Catholic Lady Aces took down Hancock County 4-2 Thursday at Edmonson County for the 3rd Region All “A” Classic Tournament championship.
It was the fourth game in four days for the Lady Aces as they went 3-1 during that stretch with their lone loss coming against Daviess County.
Hadley Phelps grabbed the win as she struck out four and allowed two earned runs in seven innings of work.
Brooke Hamilton, Lilli Grant and Abbie Dukate all had multiple hits while Hamilton scored twice in the victory.
Catholic is off until Monday when they host Apollo in a 9th District showdown.
Tecumseh 17, Apollo 10
The Apollo E-gals led Tecumseh (Ind.) 10-8 after five but the away team posted eight runs in the sixth and added two in the seventh for the victory.
Tecumseh handed Apollo its fifth-straight loss to start the season when they beat the E-gals 17-10 Thursday at AHS.
Morgan Frizzell, Abbie Gore and Emmie Bullington all had two hits while Bullington added three RBIs. Macy Calhoun also finished with multiple RBIs as she drove in two.
Olivia Crawford and Sydney Saalwaechter each scoreed twice in the loss.
Apollo plays at home Saturday when it hosts Butler and Meade County.
Trinity 4, Butler County 2
After trailing 2-0 heading to the bottom of the fifth, the Trinity Lady Raiders scored three runs in the bottom of the frame to take down Butler County 4-2 Thursday in Whitesville.
Lexy Edge grabbed the win in the circle after she went 5.1 IP and struck out two while allowing two earned runs on six hits. Allie Barnett picked up the save with 1.2 IP and only one hit allowed.
Georgia Howard led the Lady Raiders at the plate as she went 2-3 with an RBI and a run. Abby Payne also added an RBI and a run for Trinity.
The Lady Raiders play today at Grayson County.
