Apollo 14, Union County 4

The Apollo Eagles grabbed their second big win in as many days as they went west and beat Union County 14-4 in Morganfield.

Apollo trailed 4-2 heading to the top of the fifth but that’s when the Eagles offense was just getting started. Apollo played 10 runs in the fifth and added two more in the sixth to end the game early.

Tyler Payne put a hurt on the Braves with his nine strikeouts and one earned run on four hits as he grabbed the win.

Harrison Bowman followed up his win on the mound Thursday with a solid day at the plate Friday. Bowman went 2-3 with two RBIs, two runs and four stolen bases.

Sam Holder (2-4, 3 RBIs, 2 R), Joshua Mayes (2-3, 2 R), Tanner Klee (1-5, RBI, R), Nolan Millay (1-5, RBI, R), Dan St. Clair (1-3, 2 RBI, R), Landon Hamilton (RBI, R) and Dayton Brown (1-1, R) all had big days at the plate.

Apollo plays today at Evansville Mater Dei as they won’t return home until May 15 when they take on McCracken County and Great Crossing.

Owensboro 3, Trinity 1

The Owensboro Red Devils snapped a 12-game losing streak Friday when they took down the Trinity Raiders 3-1 at Shifley Park.

Trinity took a 1-0 lead in the top of the third when Gavin Howard singled to score Landon Huff but that was the only offense for the Raiders as the Red Devils scored three in the bottom of the fourth.

Tyler Hidenrite came through in the clutch and hit a single to score two runners as Dylan Blair, Blake Kimbrell and Cayden Ray all scored in the bottom of the fourth for Owensboro.

Connor Hallmark delivered on the mound as he struck out four and allowed four hits, in addition to the one run in five innings of work. Ethan Gibson struck out two as he pitched the final two frames.

The Red Devils play Monday at McLean County.
