Following an impressive postseason run, Daviess County’s Abby Newman and Millie Roberts have been recognized for their exceptional play throughout the 2021 season.

Abby Newman was one of 11 to be named to the All-State First Team. The future Western Kentucky Hilltopper finished the year with a .512 batting average, with two home runs along with 28 RBIs.

“I am so grateful to earn a spot on the All-State team, it has been a goal of mine,” Newman said. “I have been constantly putting in work and this is proof it has paid off. Such a great way to end my senior campaign.”

Meanwhile, Millie Roberts—a past All-State First Team selection—earned an honorable mention nod. The Auburn Tigers commit finished the year with a .415 batting average while hitting 11 home runs and driving in 46 runs.

“I think that being honorable mention was an honor being that there are so many amazing players in the state,” Roberts said.

Head Coach John Biggs Sr. said that the pair deserved the honors given all the hard work they have put in throughout the 2021 season.

“It’s just an honor to be recognized on these teams,” Biggs Sr. said. “This is a statewide honor voted on by the coaches all over the state. It shows you the respect these girls have earned through the year.”
