The Owensboro Bombers advanced in the 2021 Legion Tournament, dominating Madisonville in an offensive onslaught with a 21-7 win to secure a spot in the championship.

The Bombers kickstarted things in the first inning, as an error and walk led to a two-run single from Jordan Tolle with two outs. Cohl Proctor lined one to center to take a 3-0 lead.

Owensboro continued to pour it on in the second inning, tallying seven runs in the inning capped off by a two-run bomb from Garrett Small.

Following Small, Proctor came through again by hitting a solo shot to take a 10-0 lead going into the third.

Madisonville showed signs of life in the bottom of the third, looking to cut its deficit and make a push for a comeback.

Multiple hit by pitches and walks led to two runs scoring and then a two-RBI double to cut it to an 11-4 lead.

However, Owensboro quickly made it clear that they weren’t losing this game, grabbing another seven-run inning in the top of the fourth.

Following another three-run inning in the fifth, the Bombers were toting a 21-4 lead. Madisonville put three runs of its own up in the bottom half of the inning, but Owensboro closed the door to earn the 21-7 victory.

The Bombers tallied 19 hits throughout the game, with all but one player who entered the game registering a hit.

Small led the way by going 3-4 at the plate, while driving in seven runs on the day. Dan St. Claire followed suit with four RBIs, Proctor drove in three, with five other players registering at least one RBI.

Now Owensboro will compete for all the marbles against Lyon County in the 2021 Legion Tournament Championship at 7:30 p.m.
