The Owensboro Eastern 12u All-Stars came back in a hard fought battle with Green County to grab the Ohio Valley Regional Championship with a 6-4 win.

Green County had set the tone and was in charge for the first three innings of play, taking a 4-3 lead into the bottom of the fourth.

Ross Milburn had a rough start on the mound for Owensboro, giving up four runs on five hits. This marked the first time they had given up a run in the tournament. However, Eastern was gearing up to swiftly change momentum.

With runners in scoring position in the bottom of the fourth Alex Hood saw the first pitch and loved it, singling to score two runs and take a 5-4 lead.

Later in the inning Milburn bounced back at the plate to supply Eastern a little insurance with an RBI double to make it a 6-4 game going into the fifth.

Ty Lillpop came in for Milburn and had an impressive outing, allowing just two hits while punching out eight.

Hood and Gunner Hendricks led the way for Owensboro’s offense, with Hood having a 3-3 day at the plate. Eastern tallied a total of seven hits in the game.

This relief from Lillpop and solid hitting late led to a 6-4 win to give Eastern their ticket to Cal Ripken World Series in West Palm Gardens starting on August 7.
