The Owensboro Eastern Cal Ripken All-Stars continued their impressive play in the Ohio Valley Regional Tournament, shutting out South Bend en route to a 1-0 victory.

Dremail Carothers led the charge for Owensboro throwing six scoreless innings while striking out 11 and allowing no walks.

Neither team was able to muster much offense all throughout—South Bend was only able to get three hits off of Carothers—but Ty Lillpop came through in the bottom of the sixth.

With the game nearing its end, Lillpop gave Carothers the run support he needed with a solo home run to give Owensboro a 1-0 lead.

Eastern had only tallied seven hits to this point, with Lillpop and Ross Milburn leading the way with multiple hits, before Lillpop’s biggest hit gave them the game-winning run.

Along with its solid pitching performance for their second straight shutout, Owensboro committed no errors, thus paving the way to advance to the next round of the Ohio Valley Regional.

Eastern will look to move to 3-0 overall this weekend when they take the field at 11 a.m.
