The 12u Owensboro Eastern All-Stars grabbed its second straight shutout victory, defeating Casselton, North Dakota, 8-0 to advance to the Cal Ripken World Series semifinal.

It was a trio of pitchers who handled the work on the mound in this one, with Ross Milburn getting the start.

He tossed three and two-thirds innings on the mound, striking out six while allowing no walks or hits, with Ty Lillpop and Ladainian November coming in to close out the game.

Offensively, it was five runs in the third inning that swung momentum Owensboro’s way. Gunnar Hendricks and Logan Trone both drove in runs during the frame—Trone’s being via the long ball.

Lillpop, Milburn and Trone all collected a pair of hits on the day, leading to eight runs and another shutout victory.

The offense came through when it was needed, but their pitching and defense were also strong, thus securing them a spot in the Cal Ripken World Series semifinal at 8 a.m..
