The local boys soccer teams were thriving on Saturday as Owensboro, Owensboro Catholic, Daviess County and Apollo all earned wins.

Daviess County vs. Oldham County

Daviess County extended its winning streak to three games on Saturday, defeating Oldham County 6-0.

It didn’t take long for the Panthers to crack the scoreboard on Saturday, as junior Hayden Boswell found the back of the net to put them up 1-0 in the seventh minute. Minutes later, junior Sean Higgs extended Daviess County’s lead to 2-0.

The Panthers continued to pile on the offense in the first half, as senior Tanner Anderson drew a penalty kick and converted to make it a 3-0 game.

Junior Nate Dailey then sent Daviess County off into the locker room with a commanding 4-0 lead by scoring from nearly 30 yards out in the 34th minute.

The Panthers had a little luck turn into their fifth goal as Oldham County allowed an own goal, before Anderson connected for his second goal of the day in the 70th minute to secure the dominant win and move to 5-1 overall.

Owensboro vs. Oldham County

Owensboro extended its home winning streak to three straight on Saturday, defeating Oldham County in its second game of the day at a score of 4-1.

Senior Saw Thaw got things going for the Red Devils, converting a penalty kick to give them a 1-0 lead early. From there on the floodgates opened for Owensboro.

Sophomore Sang Thang put one in for the Red Devils in the first half, before getting the action going with his passing in the second.

Thang found freshman Ryan Sovar for Owensboro’s third goal of the day, while Thang found sophomore Arlo Johnson for the fourth.

Oldham County was able to put one goal in the books, but it wasn’t nearly enough to keep the Red Devils from walking away with a 4-1 win.

Owensboro now sits at 3-3 overall and will have a day off before hitting the road to take on Muhlenberg County at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.

Apollo vs. University Heights

Senior Houston Collins and junior Jason Stillwell supplied the Eagles with the bulk of their offense, scoring two goals each. Senior Harrison Bowman and junior Dah Hai both recorded a goal as well.

Bowman’s passing was pinpoint against UHA, leading the team with three assists while sophomores Harden Hill and Ra Son followed with an assist each.

Apollo now sits at 3-3 overall and will head back home to take on Owensboro at 7 p.m. on Thursday.

Owensboro Catholic vs. Meade County

Owensboro Catholic’s offense clicked on all cylinders Saturday, helping them to its first win of the season by defeating Meade County 4-3.

The Aces set the tone early taking a 2-1 lead going into the second half, but the Green Wave weren’t going down without a fight.

Meade County scored early in the second half to knot things up at 2-2, but Owensboro Catholic quickly reclaimed the lead and never looked back.

Junior Austin Martin extended Owensboro Catholic’s lead to 4-2 on a free kick in the 63rd minute, but the Green Wave weren’t done yet.

Meade County went on to cut its deficit to 4-3 following a water break, but the Aces held them scoreless the rest of the way to secure the win.

Austin led Owensboro Catholic with a brace on the day, while junior Alex Garvin and sophomore Brody Martin both scored a goal each.

With their first win under their belt, the Aces will have a day off before hitting the road to take on Grayson County at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
