Boys soccer recaps (Aug. 21): OHS, DCHS, AHS

Daviess County, Owensboro and Apollo boys soccer all took the field Saturday, for non-district play. The Red Devils grabbed its second win of the season, while the Panthers and Eagles both suffered their first loss of the season.

Owensboro vs. Glasgow

Owensboro snapped its three-game losing streak against Glasgow, grabbing an impressive 5-0 win.

Sang Thang led the way for the Red Devils offensively, grabbing four goals while Saw Thaw had three assists.

Aiden Fregoe picked up Owensboro’s fifth goal, while also dishing out two assists en route to the team’s second win of the season.

Following the win, the Red Devils sit a 2-5 overall and will return home to host Owensboro Catholic at 7 p.m. on Thursday.

Daviess County vs Elizabethtown

Daviess County suffered its first loss of the season Saturday, falling at home to Elizabethtown 3-0.

Elizabethtown got on the board first in the 29th minute, taking a 1-0 lead over the Panthers into halftime.

They were able to score two more goals in the second half, once coming from a penalty kick, while the other came in the 69th minute.

Jack Robinson and Connor Goodman both earned goals on the day, while the third goal came via a penalty kick for Dylan Barnes.

Daviess County now sits 2-1 overall and will have a couple of days off before they take on Greenwood at 7 p.m. at home on Tuesday.

Apollo vs. South Warren

Apollo suffered its first loss of the season against South Warren, falling 1-0 to the undefeated Spartans.

The Eagles lone goal came from Harrison Bowman, with Teranse Twihenya dishing out the lone assist.

Steven Taran grabbed four saves at net, but the two goals that escaped him were the dagger, handing Apollo the 2-1 loss.

Apollo now sits at 2-1 on the season and will have a day off before hitting the road to take on Henderson County at 7 p.m. on Monday.
