Owensboro Catholic and Owensboro girls soccer had successful weekends, taking down Meade County and Franklin-Simpson.

Owensboro Catholic vs. Meade County

Owensboro Catholic girls soccer bounced back from a tough loss by narrowly defeating Meade County 3-2 on Saturday.

The Greenwave didn’t make things easy for the Lady Aces, holding them scoreless in the first half.

However, despite facing adversity, the offense came back recharged in the second half. Owensboro Catholic scored three goals in the second half, with the final goal being the game-winner in the 75th minute.

It was sophomore Mallory Bailey, sophomore Annie Helwig and junior Maddie Hayden that was the trio responsible for their offense, helping the Lady Aces secure a 3-2 win.

Owensboro Catholic will now turn its attention to Apollo, when they will host them in its second matchup of the season at 7 p.m. on Tuesday.

Owensboro vs. Franklin-Simpson

It was Owensboro’s offense that couldn’t be stopped on Saturday, defeating Franklin-Simpson 10-0.

The Lady Devils had six different players score goals on the day, while junior keeper Chandler Worth had another impressive game.

Worth two saves in goal, while recording her third shutout of the season en route to the big road victory.

Owensboro now sits at 2-2 overall on the young season and will return home for its next matchup, taking on Union County at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
