Owensboro Catholic and Apollo went to battle in its respective games Saturday, with the Lady Aces grabbing a commanding win while the E-gals fell to Meade County at home.

Owensboro Catholic vs. Hopkins County Central

The Lady Aces offense was clicking on all cylinders, dominating possession and defeating Hopkins County Central 11-1.

Maddie Hayden had an impressive five goals on the day, with Ashton Logsdon following right behind with a hat trick of her own. Annie Helwig, Ella Claire Goetz and Kaitlyn Wilson also registered a goal on the day.

Hayden and Logsdon both also had a trio of assists, while Goetz had two, and Katie Riney, Emilee Cecil and Abby Payne had one assist each.

Head Coach Andy Hines said he was glad that some of the underclassmen were able to get extra playing while also grabbing a solid win.

Owensboro Catholic now sits at 4-1 overall and will hit the road to take on Owensboro at 7 p.m. on Tuesday.

Apollo vs. Meade County

The E-gals suffered a tough loss to Meade County at home, as the Lady Waves offense was too much to handle in an 11-1 game.

Apollo grabbed the first lead of the game at 1-0 early in the half, but a corner kick goal was given up and things quickly changed.

Meade County took a 5-0 lead into the second half, before doubling their score en route to the victory.

Apollo now has a short break before taking on Daviess County at home at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 24.
