Daviess County narrowly grabbed a 1-0 victory over the Eagles thanks to an early second half goal.

The Panthers controlled possession for the majority of the game, leading Apollo in shots on goal 7-2.

This didn’t lead to much in the first half of play, as the two teams went into the locker room tied at 0-0.

However, Daviess County continued to push and their offense came through less than a minute into the second half of play.

It was senior Carson Thomas who crossed the ball, finding the feet of sophomore Sam Glover. Glover then took aim and found the back of the net, giving the Panthers a 1-0 lead in the 45th minute.

This would be the difference maker, as neither team was able to find the back of the net again and the Panthers walked away with the 1-0 victory.

Daviess County is scorching hot as of late, winning seven out of its last 10 games, while tying in the other three contests.

The Panthers now sit at 9-1-3 overall and will look to win its third straight when they take on Evansville Memorial at 6 p.m. in the Tiger Invitational on Saturday. Meanwhile, Apollo moves to 7-5-1 overall and will look to bounce back when they take on Hopkinsville at 12 p.m. on Saturday.
