Daviess County’s offense showed out against South Warren, while Apollo couldn’t find the back of the net and tied with McLean County.
Apollo vs. McLean County
The E-gals couldn’t convert on a plethora of offensive opportunities, but held their own on defense to tie with McLean County 0-0.
Apollo controlled possession for the majority of the game and rattled off 25 shots, with all of them being on goal while McLean County had just two shots on goal.
Despite this, the E-gals couldn’t find the back of the net but also managed to keepMcLean County off the board to end the game in a tie.
Apollo Head Coach David Woeste said that sophomores Jolie Foster and Ella Hayden played well on the wings, but they couldn’t get past the tough and aggressive McLean defense.
Woeste also praised freshmen Kara Green and Eh Htoo Say, saying that they had tremendous outings in the midfield and as defenders.
Despite the score not being in their favor, no goals for McLean County marked the second shutout of the season for junior keeper JoHanna Hutchinson and the E-gals.
Apollo now sits at 2-9-1 overall on the season and will look to bounce back when they take on Butler County at 6 p.m. on Thursday.
Daviess County vs. South Warren
The Lady Panthers found the back of the net three times to snap its two-game losing streak when they took on South Warren on Monday.
Three different players scored for Daviess County, as the offense had rattled off 18 shots to South Warren’s eight.
Freshman Lillian Coombs and senior Steeley Walker both recorded a goal and an assist each, while sophomore Jessie Harwood also scored.
Senior Emma Patterson worked hard in goal all game long, saving seven of South Warren’s eight shots on goal.
The win marks the Lady Panthers fifth shutout of the season, as they move to 7-12 overall going into their matchup with Bowling Green at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
