Owensboro and Owensboro Catholic girls soccer defeated Apollo and Daviess County respectively in two district matches on the pitch Tuesday night.

Owensboro vs. Apollo

The Lady Devils offense—including a hat trick for sophomore Sydney Lovett—was too much for Apollo to handle, giving Owensboro a 5-1 victory.

The E-gals trailed 2-1 at half, hoping to make a push in the second half to extend its winning streak two games.

However, the Lady Devils were clicking on all cylinders, scoring three goals and controlling possession in the second half to walk away with the 5-1 win.

Lovett led all goal-scorers on the night with three, while junior Allie Hardison and senior Evelyn Pierson each chipped in a goal apiece.

Lovett, Pierson and seniors Ella Bratcher, Maddie Clouse and Natalie LaMar all recorded assists on the night.

The win moves Owensboro to 5-3 overall and they will have a day off before hosting Daviess County at 6 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Apollo falls to 2-6 on the season and will look to bounce back against Daviess County on Tuesday, Sept. 14 at 7 p.m.

Owensboro Catholic vs. Daviess County

Two first-half goals propelled the Lady Aces to a 2-1 victory over Daviess County on Tuesday night.

The game was at a stalemate throughout the majority of the first half, but Owensboro Catholic was able to find the back of the net twice with about six minutes remaining.

This was the difference maker as the Lady Panthers scored one goal in the second half, giving them the 2-1 loss.

Sophomore Ginny Young and junior Maddie Hayden scored the two goals for the Lady Aces, while juniors Rachel Taylor and Katie Riney dished out the assists.

Owensboro Catholic outshot Daviess County 30-6, but Head Coach Andy Hines said that big saves from senior Emma Patterson kept them from converting at times.

The win moves the Lady Aces are now riding a four-game winning streak and sit at 10-2 on the season and will look to stay hot against Castle on Thursday at 7 p.m. Meanwhile, Daviess County falls to 3-8 on the season and will look to bounce back against Owensboro at 6 p.m. on Thursday.
