Owensboro Catholic’s offense was unstoppable against South Warren, grabbing their fourth straight shutout with a 10-0 victory.

A myriad of Lady Aces got in on the action offensively, with junior Maddie Hayden leading the way with four goals.

Senior Emilee Cecil was right behind Hayden with a pair of goals, while senior Ashton Logsdon, junior Katie Riney, sophomore Ginny Young and sophomore Mallary Bailey all scored a goal each.

Head Coach Andy Hines said the team has just been focusing on handling what they can control and playing their games as of late.

“We’re just trying to play how we’ve been playing,” Hines said. “Possess the ball, move the ball, build up out of the back.”

Hines said he’d told Logsdon earlier today that dynamite comes in small packages and that it has shown during her career with Owensboro Catholic.

“She plays bigger than she is, she holds the ball up well, she’s fast and she’s beat her two sisters in scoring records,” Hines said. “That was a goal for her this year.”

Cecil had the chance to net the penalty kick that ended the game on senior night, something she’s been asking for and Hines gaver her the chance.

“Emilee is just a gritty player,” Hines said. “She’s been begging me to take the PK’s. She took one early in the bluegrass and made it and then missed a couple and she’s been begging me again. I was like ‘let’s go’ and she came up with that last one.”

Owensboro Catholic has won four straight games via shutout, scoring 39 goals during this stretch. The Lady Aces sit at 14-3 overall on the season with the victory.

Hines said that their focus is now shifted to defeating Murray for a second time this season and securing some hardware this Saturday at All A State.

“If we can win the first and the second game I think we are All A State Champs possibly,” Hines said. “So we’ll see. That’s our goal.”
