Apollo boys soccer used an early second half goal to come away victorious against Owensboro Catholic at home Thursday night.

Both teams were unable to convert any opportunities offensively in the first half, heading into halftime with things tied up at 0-0.

However, the Eagles took no time putting one in the scorebooks, as senior Micah Greene received a ball from junior Teranse Twihenya and found the back of the net to take a 1-0 lead in the first minute of the second half.

Owensboro Catholic had 17 shots total on the night with four on goal, while Apollo took 11 shots with five on goal.

Despite all of these offensive chances, the lone goal to start the second half was all the Eagles needed to walk away with the 1-0 victory.

Apollo moves to 6-4 overall with the win and have a few days off before hosting Warren East at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 14. Meanwhile, Owensboro Catholic sits at 1-5-1 and will take on Hopkins County Central at 7 p.m. on Monday.
