Owensboro volleyball bounced back from two straight losses to close out the Quad State Tournament, defeating Grayson County in three sets (25-21, 25-22, 25-11).

The Lady Devils came out of the gates strong, winning the first set 25-21. Determined to even things up and halt momentum, Grayson County traded points back and forth with Owensboro in the second set.

However, their efforts were not enough as the Lady Devils won the set 25-22 to go up 2-0 in the match.

With everything going its way in the match, Owensboro couldn’t be stopped in the third set and won 25-11 to complete the sweep.

It was a balanced attack for the Lady Devils offensively with freshman Maya Joska (11), freshman Addie Travis (6), junior Mia Covington (5) and junior Brooklyn Williams (4) combining for 26 of the team’s 28 kills.

Sophomore Chase Mather led the way defensively with 13 digs, while junior Kennedy Thompson followed closely behind with eight.

The win moves Owensboro to 14-10 on the season as they will look to grab its second straight when they travel to take on McLean County at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
