The Lady Aces fell just short on senior night against Warren East, while the Lady Raiders offense couldn’t be stopped in a win over Evansville Harrison on Wednesday.

Owensboro Catholic vs. Warren East

Owensboro Catholic tried to bounce back with some late offense to complete a comeback, but a strong top of the fourth for Warren East was the deciding factor in a 6-5 loss for the Lady Aces.

Owensboro Catholic got off to a solid start, grabbing the first lead of the game in the bottom of the second on a solo home run to left from junior Bailey Hamilton. Meanwhile, her sister Brooke Hamilton was dialed in, tossing three scoreless innings in the circle to keep them in charge 1-0 going into the fourth.

However, the Lady Raiders finally broke through in the top of the fourth as back-to-back one-out doubles tied things at 1-1. Following a walk and a single, sophomore Autumn Simmons delivered a two-run single before an error allowed another run to score to make it a 4-1 game.

The following at-bat sophomore Jaleigh Childers capped off a six-run top of the fourth to take a commanding 6-1 lead into the bottom of the fourth. But the Lady Aces came roaring back, as a leadoff double from senior Camille Conkright was followed by an RBI single from junior Addison Tignor opened up the scoring in the bottom half of the inning.

Following a single from Bailey Hamilton, Brooke doubled to center to score two and make it a 6-4 deficit for Owensboro Catholic. Freshman Tyranda Stuart gave the Lady Aces one more run with an RBI double to center, capping off a four-run bottom of the fourth.

While Owensboro Catholic’s offense had shifted momentum, they weren’t able to capitalize on it as senior Emma Markham held them scoreless in the final three innings of the game and ultimately lost 6-5.

Markham tossed the whole game for Warren East, allowing five earned runs on seven hits, while striking out 12. Brooke Hamilton on the other hand allowed three earned runs on 10 hits, while walking two and striking out eight.

Brooke led the way offensively for the Lady Aces with two RBIs, while Bailey Hamilton, Stuart and Tignor all added one each. Bailey and Brooke were the only players to have two hits on the day for Owensboro Catholic.

The Lady Aces fell to 21-11 overall with the loss, as they will look to bounce back with a road game against Henderson County at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Trinity vs. Evansville Harrison

A monstrous bottom of the third offensively for the Lady Raiders was crucial in a dominant 15-5 win at home over Evansville Harrison on Wednesday.

While Evansville Harrison grabbed the first run of the game in the top of the first with an RBI double, senior Kat Hibbit responded with an RBI single for Trinity to knot things up at 1-1 going into the second inning.

After a scoreless second inning, the Lady Raiders bats came alive. Freshman Raylee Higdon opened up the scoring with a two-run single to make it a 3-1 game and then four hit by pitches in a row plate two more runs to make it 5-1.

Senior Maddie Logsdon followed with a bases-clearing double, before sophomore Macie Aguilar followed with an RBI single to make it 9-1. Freshman Madison McDaniel proceeded to cap off the big 10-run inning for Trinity with a two-run single to left, giving them an 11-1 lead going into the fourth.

Evansville Harrison tried to bounce back with two runs in the top of the fourth and fifth inning, but the Lady Raiders responded with four more to claim a 15-5 short-game victory.

Junior Allie Graham handled the first 1 ⅓ innings of the day, allowing one run on four hits, while junior Allie Barnett allowed two earned runs on four hits while striking out four in the final 3 ⅔ innings. Higdon led the way offensively for Trinity, grabbing five RBIs while Logsdon followed close behind with three.

The Lady Raiders improved to 17-9 overall with the win and will look to grab two straight when they take on Apollo at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
