Despite holding a narrow lead going into the fourth quarter, a rough day from behind the arc and an outpouring of offense from the Kokomo Bobcats’ bench led to a 108-99 loss to end the Owensboro Thoroughbreds season.

Owensboro and Kokomo traded buckets back and forth to start out the night, ending the first quarter in a 26-26 tie. However, it was the Bobcats who had the slight edge to grab a 56-52 lead at halftime.

The two teams continued to leave it all on the floor in the third quarter, with the Thoroughbreds battling back to claim an 85-78 lead going into the fourth. However, Kokomo’s offense would not be denied, outscoring Owensboro 30-14 in the final quarter of play to claim a 108-99 win.

The Thoroughbreds had Darhius Nunn lead the way offensively, chipping in 35 points 11-20 shooting from the field, 6-10 from deep and 7-8 from the charity stripe to go along with his six assists. Jaiveon Eaves followed with 18 points, while Montel James had a 16-point and 12-rebound double-double.

However, Owensboro’s downfall was their 31.4% clip from three to the Bobcats 45%, while also losing the bench points battle with Kokomo by a whopping 58-18. The Bobcats had five players finish in double figures, while Tujara Henderson led the way with 21 points and six rebounds.

The pair of losses to Kokomo in the second round of the playoffs ended the Thoroughbreds season, as they close out the 2021-22 campaign with a 17-9 overall record.
