The Lady Panthers picked up right where they left off after a season-opening district win on Friday, defeating Boyle County 2-1 to open up the DC Classic.

Sophomore Kate McCain and senior Brooke Schwartz were the team’s goal scorers on the day, receiving assists from sophomore Lily Hoagland and sophomore Mary Wiman. The goal was McCain’s first of the season and second for Schwartz.

Daviess County played well defensively on its home pitch, limiting Boyle County to one goal. The Lady Panthers can thank junior Emily Baughn and freshman Kaelin Labhart for their part in keeping them at bay as well, as the two had three and five saves respectively in net.

Daviess County opens up its very own DC Classic with a win, moving on to 2-0 overall before going into a Saturday matchup at 6 p.m. with Graves County.
