The Lady Panthers had their two-game winning streak snapped by Bowling Green on Tuesday, while Trinity (Whitesville) secured its sixth straight sweep over Hancock County to stay hot.
Daviess County vs. Bowling Green
Playing the Lady Purples for the first time since losing to them in the first round of state in 2021, Daviess County couldn’t stifle them in a 3-0 sweep (25-15, 25-20, 25-22).
The Lady Panthers struggled to get much going offensively, with senior Josie Newcom limited to nine kills and senior Lexi Owen held to 13 assists. Daviess County had 45 digs on the day, with senior Taylor Roberts leading the way with 13.
The Lady Panthers fall to 6-5 overall on the season with the loss, now with nearly a week off before a district matchup with Owensboro at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 6.
Trinity (Whitesville) vs. Hancock County
The Lady Raiders were dominant once again on Tuesday, winning their 21st straight set to extend their winning streak to six games with the sweep over Hancock County (25-23, 25-14, 25-9)
Trinity was led by junior Georgia Howard (13), junior Hannah Nash (10) and sophomore Kenzie McDowell (10) offensively, as the trio combined for 33 of the team’s 36 kills. Senior Josie Aull had her hands all over their offensive attack, recording 33 assists on the night.
Howard also had 13 digs in the game, following close behind team-leader sophomore Caroline Hall who tallied 17. The Lady Raiders now sit at 10-3 overall on the season with the victory, as they will now take about a week off before taking on Owensboro Catholic at 5 p.m. on Tuesday.
