Owensboro vs. Madisonville-North Hopkins

The Red Devils two-game winning streak was snapped on Thursday, as they couldn’t stifle Madisonville-North Hopkins offense in a 6-0 loss on the road.

It was a trio of Maroons that led the way, as senior JJ Brown had a hat trick, senior Ivan Juarez had a brace and a goal from junior Maverick Peyton. Junior keeper Alex Carpenter grabbed two saves in net for Owensboro in the loss.

Falling to 7-6-2 overall with the loss, the Red Devils will now take a day off before hosting Hopkins County Central at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Daviess County vs Warren Central

The Panthers nearly lost their third out of their last four games on Thursday, but some late offense helped them escape with a 2-1 win over Warren Central at home to improve to 2-0 on the week.

Freshman Peter Thang got the first goal of the game in the 11th minute, giving the Dragons an early 1-0 lead. They held onto the lead until the final 10 minutes, when senior Ahmed Abdullahi crossed the ball to senior Sean Higgs to knot the game up at 1-1.

Minutes later it was senior Nate Dailey that delivered the final blow, drilling a direct kick from about 27 yards out to close out the game with a 2-1 win for Daviess County. The Panthers improve to 13-3-1 with the win, as they will take a day off before competing in the Bruin Classic on Saturday.
