The Brescia University men’s basketball team advances to 4-2 overall after a close matchup against the Bucs from the Christian Brothers University. The Bucs were coached by John T. Reilly who is a former hall of fame coach of the Brescia University.

The Bucs would score early with a three to give the CBU the early lead after tipoff. However, Camden Pfeister was able to knock down two free throws and a three pointer to give the Bearcats the lead. The Bucs would then answer with two quick buckets, bringing them to a 7-5 lead. These opening minutes would set the tone for the back and forth nail biter game in store for fans.

The Bearcats would go on a run, led by John Saenz’s two pointer that would bring the game to 14-11 with the Bearcats taking the lead and forcing the Bucs to take a time out.

As the first half was coming to a close, the Bucs would hit a 3 pointer to advance their lead to 32-26.

Coming out of the locker room, the Bearcats would have to answer strongly as steal from Camden Pfeister would lead to a monstrous dunk that would bring the Bearcats within two. Pfiester then returned after a timeout with another dunk to tie the game at 50.

After a exchange of baskets, the Bearcats would take the lead and have a one point advantage over the Bucs. With the score being 59-58, Tay Smith would drive the ball down court for the Bearcats and a three pointer to push the Bearcats lead to 62-58. With 30 seconds left on the clock, the Bucs they would face a strong Bearcat press defense and turn the ball over.

The game would end with Tay Smith knocking down two free throws to further the Bearcats’ lead as they take the game, 64-58.

John Saenz would lead the Bearcat scoring with 12 points, Tay Smith and Camden Pfiester each finish with 11 points. Coach Gayler and the Bearcats will take on IU East on December 3rd at home with a tip-off time of 3 pm CT for their next conference match-up.
