After a solid senior season at Apollo High School, longtime starting quarterback Christian Combs has made the decision to continue his athletic career at Georgetown College.

“It feels amazing,” Combs said. “It’s been long awaited. This has been a dream of mine since I was a kid.”

Combs started across multiple seasons for the Eagles, including last year when he played 11 games and completed 160 passes for 1,963 passing yards, 16 touchdowns with an average of 178.5 passing yards per game. Combs will be joining a Georgetown College team that had a 7-3 season last year and even has former Owensboro Catholic player Drew Hartz at quarterback as well.

The Eagles senior won’t be traveling too far from home for the next step in his academic and athletic career, as he is excited to be stepping foot on a beautiful campus and joining a top-tier school in his eyes.

“I chose Georgetown because it felt like home and they made me feel like I was family when I was there,” Combs said. “The program is outstanding. It’s a very competitive one and the coaches are all amazing.”

While going to battle on the gridiron, Combs said that he plans on studying business marketing and sales. The quarterback is looking forward to this new chapter in his life, but said that without a doubt he wouldn’t be where he is today with the support of his teammates and friends he’ll forever cherish at Apollo High School.

“One thing I am going to miss about my team is the bond we created over the four years I was there,” Combs said. “What I’m going to miss most about my school is my friends that I made over the years.”
