A strong fourth quarter defensively paired with another impressive showing from freshman Kennedy Lane were key factors in Head Coach Natalie Payne’s 200th win on Tuesday, as the E-gals topped Ohio County 53-46 on the road.

It was Lane that helped give Apollo a strong start, as she scored eight points to lead the way to a 15-12 lead following the first quarter. The E-gals didn’t have the same luck offensively in the second, as freshman Abby Sapp scored all six of their points while the Lady Eagles bounced back to take a 27-18 halftime lead.

Lane and Apollo came out of the locker room dialed in though, as she grabbed 11 points to help cut their deficit to 38-35 going into the fourth. Lane only had five in the fourth, but teammates Sapp (five), Jennifer Lee (four) and Gracie Survant (four) followed suit while holding OHio County to single digits in the quarter to complete a 53-46 comeback win.

Lane led all scorers with 24, while Sapp finished with 11 and Lee had nine points. Apollo moves to 7-15 after snapping its two-game losing streak, looking to grab back-to-back wins when they take on Warren Central at home at 3 p.m. on Saturday.
