Boys’ Basketball recap (Nov. 28): AHS, DCHS, THS

The first game day of the new season saw win and two losses for Owensboro schools. Apollo put their first win on their record for the season while Trinity and Daviess County came up short in their season openers. 

AHS 60, Hancock County 49

The Eagles got their first win in their first game after taking down Hancock County 60-49. Game stats are currently unavailable at this time. 

Henderson 52, Daviess County 48

Daviess County narrowly lost their season opener by just four points in their 52-48 defeat against Henderson County. DCHS struggled with turnovers during the game  by having 16 to Henderson’s 9.

The Panthers shot 8-14 from the three point line with Jaxon Brown and Jonathan Moss both shooting 3-5 from three. Brown also led the team in scoring with 15 points. Gage Phelps put in a strong defensive performance with all six of his rebounds being defensive boards. Phelps followed Brown in points, having 14 on the night. 

Owensboro Knights 53, THS 43

Trinity lost 53-43 to the Owensboro Knights after losing grip of the game in the fourth quarter where they only scored 9 points to the Knights’ 18. The game stayed close with  both teams  just two points apart at the end of every quarter until the fourth. 

The team ended the match a 100% FT% shooting 15-15 from the line. Connor Hatfield shot 8-8, Hayden Aull shot 5-5 and Bransen Howard shot 2-2 on free throws. Hatfield also led the team in scoring at 12 points with Aull close behind with 11 points.
