Owensboro and Daviess found success in their first matches of the season with more than comfortable wins while Apollo narrowly missed out on their first win.
Todd County Central 43, AHS 40
Apollo lost by just three points in their 43-40 defeat against Todd Co. Central. AHS held a lead at the end of every quarter, but were outscored 21-11 in the final quarter and couldn’t hold out. Leading the E-gals and the game in points was Jennifer Lee with 25 points in her first game of the season.
DCHS 63, South Warren 41
Daviess County won their season opener pretty comfortably after taking down South Warren 63-41. DCHS gained an early 17-9 lead by the end of the first quarter and successfully held onto for the duration of the match.
The Lady Panthers had three players score in the double digits during the match. Kennedy Lane led the team in scoring with 23 points. Lane was followed by Lily Hoagland and Zoey Beehn who had 17 and 16 points respectively.
OHS 71, Greenwood 27
Owensboro had a landslide 71-27 victory over Greenwood to start their season with a bang. They had the game safely tucked away by halftime where they held a 43-15 lead. Despite their lead, the Lady Red Devils did not let up on defense as they finished the game with over 25 steals. Much of the OHS bench saw minutes and made it onto the scoresheet as well.
Leading the Lady Red Devils in scoring was Helena John with 16 points. Unique Carter-Swanagan and A’Lyrica Hughes both had 13 points each as well.
