Daviess County and Apollo place top 10 in wrestling regionals; Ramsey clinches regional championship

Boys’ Wrestling Regionals were held at Calloway County High School over the weekend, and two Owensboro Schools placed in the top 10 while Apollo’s Jake Ramsey was named regional champion. The results of local Owensboro Schools included:

Daviess County- 74.5

Daviess County finished 8th overall as a team with a score of 74.5. They had 3 wrestlers qualify to advance to the state competition on Feb. 15. Aidan Ranburger and Jackson Stoner both placed 3rd in their respective weight classes to advance. Kobe Nichols placed 5th overall to move on as well. 

Apollo- 67

Apollo placed 9th overall as a team with a score of 67. Jake Ramsey was named regional champion in his weight class, and the team had 5 other wrestlers medal alongside Ramsey. Patrick Glenn was one position away from the bronze as he finished 4th, Clayton Pendley placed 5th and Kevin Lopez, Damon Crockett and Tavius Walker all placed 6th in their respective weight classes. 

Owensboro- 24.5

Owensboro finished in 12th place as a team with a score of 24.5. They had 3 wrestlers medal during the competition, and they had one advance to the state tournament. Kameryis Cline placed 5th in his weight class to move on to state. Juan Quintana and Will Stovall both placed 6th in their respective weight classes as well. 

Owensboro Catholic- 21

Owensboro Catholic placed 14th overall with a score of 21. Cameron Devine placed 6th overall in his weight class.
