Girls’ Basketball recap (Feb. 9): AHS vs. DCHS, THS

District play wrapped up today as Daviess County was victorious over Apollo and Trinity were defeated by Grayson County.

DCHS 49, AHS 27

The Lady Panthers beat the E-gals 49-22 to close out district play. 

Daviess County took control of the game early as they held Apollo to 2 points while they gained a 19-2 lead at the end of the first quarter. Apollo tightened up their defense in the second quarter as the scoring was kept low at 8-6 with DCHS leading 27-8 at halftime. DC continued to bring the intensity in the third quarter as they outscored AHS 16-7. Despite finding more success on offense with 12 points in the fourth quarter, Apollo couldn’t cut into the lead and Daviess County took the win 49-27. 

Lily Hoagland led the Lady Panthers in scoring with 14 points. Kennedy Lane followed behind with 2 threes and 10 points. Leading the E-gals in scoring was Jenna Dant with 14 points. Dant shot 8 for 10 from the free throw line as well.

Grayson 59, THS 33

Trinity played their final district game of the regular season against Grayson County, and they were defeated 59-33. 

Trinity were held to 3 points in the first quarter while Grayson gained a 20-3 lead at the end of the first quarter. The Lady Raiders got things moving offensively as they made 2 threes to go along with their 11 points in the second quarter. Grayson led 33-14 at halftime. THS continued to try and cut into the lead, but they were outscored 18-10 in the third. Trinity went on to be defeated 59-33. 

Leading the Lady Raiders in scoring was Sarah Payne and Kenzie McDowell with 12 points each.
