McLean County dropped to 3-3 on the season after falling 14-0 to Union County Friday night.
The Cougars kept it close until Union County broke through with a touchdown early in the second quarter, missing the extra point to take a 6-0 lead. Union added another touchdown with 3:33 left in the half, converting a two-point attempt to extend their lead to 14-0. McLean County was unable to find the end zone and suffered the shutout loss.
“We struggled to put together a complete offensive series, but I felt like we didn’t lay down and matched their physicality,” McLean head coach Zach Waggener said. “Union is a good football team, and we held them out of the end zone in the second half.”
The Cougars will look to bounce back next week when they take on Hopkins County Central at home.
