Daviess County split their Saturday doubleheader, and McLean County improved to 4-1, while Owensboro lost a close game to Trigg County.

Daviess County 1, Christian Academy (Knoxville), TN 0

Playing in the opener of the Smoky Mountain Cup in Gatlinburg, Maryl Evelyn Wiman assisted Emma Schmitt for the lone goal of the game in Daviess County’s 1-0 win over Christian Academy of Knoxville. Kaelin Labhart recorded five saves in net as part of the shutout.

Rockvale TN 1, Daviess County 0

Kaelin Labhart record 10 saves in the team’s 1-0 loss to Rockvale.

“We played two tough games today,” Daviess County Head Coach Paige Crisp said. “We played hard and battled through some fatigue in the second game. I think we’ve got to continue to work on finishing and taking advantage of scoring opportunities when we get them.”

Mclean County 5, Breckinridge County 0

Landry Humphrey scored four goals and added an assist to Lily Miller in the Lady Cougars 5-0 win over Breckinridge County. Hannah Smith, Amelie Neal, Miller all recorded assists, while Haley Louden had two saves in goal.

“This 4-1 start ties the 2013 season for the best start in program history,” McLean County Head Coach Ricky Humphrey said. “Landry Humphrey is now second all-time in goals in McLean County High School history.”

Trigg County 2, Owensboro 1

Lily Neiman assisted Amelia Calhoun for the Lady Devils’ lone goal in their 2-1 loss to Trigg County. Hayley Sikes and Drew Kurz split time in net, finishing with seven and five saves, respectively.
