The Lady Devils finished 4-1 in their quad match, while McLean County lost to Butler County and Apollo fell to Henderson County.

Henderson County 3, Apollo 1

Jessie Pate finished with 27 digs and three service aces in the E-Gals’ 3-1 (18-25, 23-25, 27-25, 19-25) loss to Henderson County. Ali Lawson recorded seven kills, Keelan Wettstain had 12 digs, six kills, and three service aces, and Maddi Roberts finished with 22 digs and 19 assists.

“Our girls battled through a lot of adversity today,” Apollo Head Coach Mary Howard said. “Our players had to play different roles than usual. I was proud of the way they fought through each set.”

Butler County 3, McLean County 1

Annie Shelton finished with 26 digs, eight kills, four service aces, and one block in the Lady Cougars’ 3-1 (22-25, 25-19, 17-25, 21-25) loss to Butler County. Amelia Aull recorded 14 digs, 12 assists, two kills, two service aces, and one block, while Abbi Shivers had 23 digs and one assist.

“The girls played hard and fought, but came up short today against Butler County,” McLean County Head Coach Traci Capps said. “They are really playing some good volleyball, but I always have to remind myself how young my varsity team is. I love my girls, and they never give up, no matter the score.”

Lady Devils finish weekend 4-1

Competing in a quad match over the weekend, Owensboro finished 4-1, beating Ohio County twice, Hopkins County Central 2-0 (25-16, 25-9), and Christian County 2-0 (25-23, 25-21). Their lone loss came against Warren East, falling 2-0 (21-25, 16-25).

“The girls came ready to play this weekend,” Owensboro Head Coach Mitchell Johnson said. “They limited their errors and played scrappy, only dropping one match to a very tough Warren East team.”
