Apollo held off Daviess County in a tight game, while Owensboro and Owensboro Catholic both lost.
Apollo 3, Daviess County 2
Avery Gray had 26 kills and 25 digs, while Maddi Roberts had 29 assists and 29 digs in Apollos’ 3-2 (25-20, 19-25, 29-25, 25-12, 15-13) win over Daviess County. Jessie Pate had a team-high 38 digs and added two service aces, while Keelan Wettstain had 21 digs and 14 kills.
“A huge district win for our girls tonight,” Apollo Head Coach Mary Howard said. “Daviess is a great defensive team, and our girls had to fight through some unforced errors during the second and third sets, but I am super proud of the fight these girls have. They didn’t back up when pressured; they just kept pushing for one point at a time.”
For Daviess County, Haylee Clark had a team-high 14 kills and added five digs and two blocks, while Lexi Jones recorded 33 digs, one service ace, and one kill. Stella Roberts filled the stat sheet, finishing with 23 assists, nine digs, three blocks, one kill, and one service ace.
Breckinridge County 3, Owensboro 0
Ayrish Barksdale finished with 15 digs, 10 kills, four blocks, and four service aces in the Lady Devils’ 3-0 (21-25, 20-25, 21-25) loss to Breckinridge County. Anna Travis recorded 19 assists, 13 digs, six blocks, two kills, and one service ace, while June Larsen had 14 digs, four assists, and two service aces.
“Tonight, Breckenridge County had some great serves, and we were not able to adjust,” Owensboro Head Coach Mitchell Johnson said. “We had some really good moments, but never found the momentum we needed to push through.”
Castle 3, Owensboro Catholic 0
Mayme Powell finished with a team-high 16 assists and added five digs, one kill, and one service ace in the Lady Aces’ 3-0 (23-25, 13-25, 17-25) loss to Castle. Molly Arnold recorded 15 digs, two assists, and one kill, while Ava Martin had eight kills, five digs, and two blocks.
