Apollo volleyball finishes 3-2 in Fall Brawl

Competing at the Fall Brawl Tournament, Apollo finished the weekend 3-2, beating Thomas Nelson 2-1 (26-27, 25-21, 15-9), Louisville Central 2-0 (25-19, 25-12), and Marion County 2-0 (27-25, 25-18). On Saturday, they lost to host Elizabethtown 2-0 (18-25, 20-25) and Breckinridge County 2-0 (17-25, 18-25).

In their back-to-back wins on Friday evening against Louisville Central and Marion County, Avery Gray finished with a team-high 23 digs and 21 kills, and Maddi Roberts recorded 45 assists, 19 digs, three kills, and two service aces.

In their three games on Saturday afternoon, Jessie Pate posted 28 digs, and Keelan Wettstain had 27 digs, 18 kills, and one block. Gray was also named to the All-Tournament team.

“It was a tough tournament,” Apollo Head Coach Mary Howard said. “I was proud of the way our girls fought all weekend. We had some great defensive sets. The girls are really playing with great chemistry right now.”
