Dre’mail Carothers and Peyton Morris combined for six passing touchdowns and the defense pitched a shutout in Owensboro Catholics 48-0 win over Fort Knox.
The Aces struck on their opening drive when Carothers found Luke Thomas from 50 yards out. On the ensuing kickoff, Owensboro Catholic’s defense recovered a fumble, culminating in Carothers finding Thomas for their second scoring connection of the night and a 13-0 lead.
Less than three minutes later, Carothers threw his third touchdown strike of the night, this time to Xavier Maddox for 37 yards. Once again, the Aces defense quickly forced a punt, leading to Miles Edge scampering into the endzone from 10 yards out.
On their next possession, Carothers found Cam James for a two-yard touchdown connection and Thomas hauled in the two point attempt for a 35-0 lead.
From there, the Aces subbed in some of their backups and younger players, who found their own success. In the third quarter, QB Peyton Morris threw a strike to Russ Boarman for a 76-yard touchdown. Six minutes later, Morris threw his second touchdown of the night, this time a 13-yard pass to Frank Igleheart.
The Aces are off next week due to Fall Break, but return on Oct. 24 when they host McLean County in a pivotal district match.
