South Warren used an explosive second quarter to take control and never looked back Friday night, rolling past Daviess County 49-14 in Bowling Green.
The Panthers struck first when quarterback Garrison Barker connected with Hunter Corbin on a 64-yard touchdown pass midway through the first quarter, giving DCHS a 6-0 lead after the two-point try failed.
That was the lone highlight early for the Panthers, as the Spartans erupted for 35 unanswered points in the second quarter. Kayden York got South Warren on the board with a 26-yard touchdown pass to Justin Capps, then intercepted Barker on the next series and returned it 40 yards for a score.
The Spartans added three more touchdowns before halftime — two from quarterback Camden Page, who threw scoring strikes to Capps and Jake Carter, and another short rushing touchdown by York — to build a commanding 35-6 lead at the break.
Page continued his efficiency in the third quarter, completing a 13-yard touchdown to Carter to stretch the margin. DCHS’s struggles deepened when Barker’s pass was intercepted and returned for a touchdown by Logan Cato, pushing the South Warren advantage to 49-6.
Barker finished 15-of-30 passing for 196 yards with two touchdowns and four interceptions. Corbin caught four passes for 84 yards and a score, while Jace Hunt added four receptions for 44 yards and a touchdown. The Panthers were limited to minus-5 rushing yards on eight carries.
Page led the Spartans by going 8-for-12 for 83 yards and two touchdowns, while York accounted for scores on both sides of the ball and rushed for another 34 yards.
Daviess County’s final points came late in the fourth quarter when Barker found Hunt for a 37-yard touchdown and connected with him again on the two-point conversion to make it 49-14.
The Panthers (now 4–5) will look to rebound next week as they return home for their regular-season finale against cross-town foe, Apollo.
