After beating Model Friday evening to start their Lexington Legends Weekend run, McLean County finished Saturday 1-1, losing to Henry Clay 11-5, but beating West Jassamine 4-1.
In their loss to Henry Clay, Brooks Lynam and Layden Bozarth both drove in a pair of runs, while Jaelin Groves and Jordan Bailey both had hits. Corbin Martin started on the mound, allowing four earned runs over two innings, while Will Gatton and Reid Gatton both pitched in relief.
Taking the mound against West Jassamine, Layden Bozarth was nearly unhittable, allowing one earned run over five innings, striking out eight, while Jaelin Grove pitched two shutout innings in relief.
Trailing 1-0 entering the bottom of the fifth, Bozarth delivered the eventual game-winning hit, crushing a two-run double. The senior finished 2-3 with two RBIs, Bailey went 2-3, and Kaysen Bozarth, Lynam, and Martin all had hits. The Cougars return to action tomorrow night when they travel to Muhlenberg County.
