The 6300 block of Highway 56 in Sorgho between 279 South and Hayden Bridge Road is currently closed due to an overturned vehicle.

Shortly after 12:30 p.m. this afternoon, a truck turned over on Hwy 56 knocking out a nearby fire hydrant.

According to Major Barry Smith at the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office, there was quite a bit of flooding in the area until the water department was able to arrive and shut off the main valve to the water flow.

“Thankfully, the [West Daviess County] Water department is not very far away from there,” Smith said.

While the condition of the driver is unknown, Smith said the call came in as an “accident with no injuries.”

Road crews are on still on scene performing clean up of the material the truck was transporting and the DCSO is currently investing the incident. The time estimated for road closure is unknown at this time.
