John George opened the first Peddlers Mall opened 21 years ago in Louisville, Ky. Now owning and operating 18 locations across Kentucky, Indiana and Ohio, with more to come, George created the venues to be a one-stop-shop.

“You can either become a vendor to sell your unwanted items or come as a customer to browse and save,” said Taylor Logsdon, Peddlers Mall Marketing Director.

Owensboro Peddlers Mall manager Holly Carter has helped with her children’s’ school picture day for the last 10 years, and this year, she came up with a unique idea to get customers excited about back-to-school shopping and coming to the Peddlers Mall.

Creating a display for the back-to-school backdrop, attendees can get their picture taken between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. by a professional photographer.

“The photos are free, but attendees are encouraged to donate any amount to our favorite charity, 4 PAWS 4 ABILITY, which provides service dogs for children in need,” Logsdon said.

New merchandise is received daily and new vendors sell monthly at the Peddlers Mall. Offering furniture, food, uniques, collectibles, vintage, antiques, oddities and more, Logsdon said that you never know what you will find.

“We wanted to offer a way for our customers and the local community to have a low cost and affordable option to obtain at least a semi-professional school photo for their children instead of having to pay the high prices that parents may not always budget for,” Carter said. “We also have a large variety of school supplies for sale in our store that parents can buy to be ready for the hectic time of starting back to school.”

The event is 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 3 at the Owensboro Peddlers Mall, 601 Commerce Drive.
