Update: Body found Saturday identified as Owensboro woman

The body that was found on the bank of the Ohio River Saturday morning has been identified, with officials saying there is no suspicion of foul play.

Daviess County Coroner Jeff Jones said Tuesday that the body was identified as Mary VanVactor, a 73-year-old woman from Owensboro. Jones said the cause of death has not yet been determined, and more information will come as the final autopsy is finished.

Saturday morning, Owensboro Police Department responded to a call at 8:34 a.m. about a body observed on the riverbank near the RiverPark Center, according to OPD.

The body was found to be a deceased female and due to the location, Owensboro Fire Department was called to help retrieve the body. The body has been identified, according to OPD.

No foul play is suspected at this time, according to OPD.

Detectives from the Criminal Investigation Division responded and are continuing to investigate.
