Jennifer Hendricks and Angela Thompson were sworn in Thursday for their upcoming roles as Daviess County’s Family Court Judges, with a big crowd in attendance to celebrate the milestone.

Hendricks will officially serve as the Circuit Division 3 judge, a position created in 2016. Thompson was elected as the Circuit Division 4 judge, a position created earlier this year. That means this will be the first time there have been two dedicated Family Court judges in Daviess County.

Hendricks said they were appreciative both of the people who came to the reception and for everyone that voted for them in the November election.

“We’re excited (to begin). We’ve been working together collaborating together and we’re ready. I think we’re excited to see what this holds for Daviess County,” Hendricks said.

District Court Judge Lisa Jones said she has observed the two newly elected judges working together and planning ahead for their positions.

“They are eager. They’re also in awe of the responsibility that the voters have given them, and they are humble under its weight. We are in good hands,” Jones said.

Hendricks is originally from Muhlenberg County, where she went to Muhlenberg North High School before the schools consolidated. She did undergraduate studies at Kentucky Wesleyan College before going to Western Michigan University Thomas M. Cooley Law School. She later went to law school in Melbourne, Australia, and the University of Canterbury School of Law in New Zealand.

Thompson has practiced law in Daviess County for 28 years. While in private practice, she has practiced in all areas of family law including divorce, custody, child support, domestic violence, adoption, and as a guardian ad litem for dependent and neglected children.
