Hollywood Independent Music Awards coming to Owensboro this Saturday, several area artists nominated

The Hollywood Independent Music Awards (HIMA) will host the “everything blue” portion of its ceremony at the Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame and Museum on Saturday. The everything blue segment includes bluegrass, gospel, country, and blues nominees for the HIMA event. 

Todd Tilghman, winner of NBC’s The Voice Season 18, will host the national awards show. Several regional artists received nominations and will be recognized locally throughout the weekend.

“It’s an absolute honor to get to host this portion of the HIMAs,” said Fran Marseille, Friday After 5 Executive Director. “Being an independent musician can be tough. The Hollywood Independent Music Awards are the premier global platform for independent music. Hosting this show is great recognition for Owensboro and brings attention to our city as a major music destination.”

Friends and family will join the nominated artists for a special red-carpet event on August 10 at the Hall of Fame. The artist will also perform at this week’s Friday After 5 and at a special jam session on August 13, accompanied by several Los Angeles-based artists.

The actual awards ceremony will take place August 12, with the local event running from The event will run from 1-5 p.m. Tickets to attend the awards ceremony are $15 for general admission and $50 for VIP and are available here

The HIMAs will also honor former Owensboro City Commissioner Larry Maglinger for his contributions to the entertainment business.
