Daviess County scored their first offensive points of the year Friday night but they couldn’t keep up with North Hardin in a 45-16 road loss.
The Panthers (0-4) got an early interception but couldn’t capitalize with a score. The Trojans (1-2) were the first to find the end zone, scoring touchdowns on passes of 29 and 31 yards just 2 minutes apart late in the first quarter.
The Panthers cut the deficit in half when Russ Crowe hit Luke Floyd for a 7-yard touchdown with 9:55 left in the first half. However, North Hardin scored three times in a 3-minute span to go up 35-7. The Panthers added a 25-yard field goal by Asher Hendrix to end the half.
DC added one more touchdown in the third quarter. Floyd had a 73-yard interception return, then a few plays later on fourth down Dartez Basham connected with Floyd for a 30-yard strike. It left the Panthers trailing 35-16 with 9:30 to go in the third.
In the fourth quarter, North Hardin tacked on a field goal then punched in another touchdown about a minute later for the final score.
Daviess County will return home as they try to get in the win column against Meade County (3-1) next week.
