Local high school teams competed in the KHSAA State Cross Country Championships on Saturday in Lexington. The Owensboro Catholic girls’ team finished 4th in Class 1A behind a 5th-place finish by Peyton Reid. The Trinity boys also ran in Class 1A, while Daviess County and Apollo competed in the boys’ and girls’ 3A races.
The Owensboro Catholic girls team placed 4th in Class 1A with performances by Peyton Reid (5th, 20:23.93), Scarlett Isenbarger (32nd, 22:02.40), Ainsley Sutter (45th, 22:36.09), Ashlie Hayden (77th, 23:39.77), and Caroline Wathen (81st, 23:45.89).
The Trinity boys placed 28th as a team in 1A with performances by Jacob Howard (89th, 19:19.50), Grant Howard (99th, 19:37.00), Thomas Payne (193rd, 21:48.70), Tate Howard (197th, 21:59.90), and Dalton Millay (231st, 23:42.20).
The Daviess County boys placed 10th as a team in 3A with performances by Asher Alvey (35th, 16:52.95), Brayden Kaelin (44th, 17:04.33), Emerick Randolph (79th, 17:40.72), Ben Nunley, (84th, 17:43.14) and Austin Spurrier (94th, 17:47.93).
The Daviess County girls placed 12th as a team in 3A with performances by Lucy Spaw (34th, 20:22.23), Melanie Reesman (90th, 21:29.42), Mallory Raines (91st, 21:32.57), Haley Wolfe (94th, 21:34.78), and Ellie Girten (100th, 21:38.06).
The Apollo boys placed 21st as a team in 3A with performances by Emmit Brock (16th, 16:25.21), Noah Gray (52nd, 17:11.29), Josh Thomas (130th, 18:17.61), Keaton Boling (206th, 19:10.13), and Austin King (221st, 19:23.09) .
The Apollo girls sent just two qualifying runners, Adyson Mattingly (168th, 22:52.06) and Ava Falloway (174th, 22:58.73).
