For the 4th consecutive year, every student at Estes Elementary School received a new pair of pajamas, and nearly all of the youngsters donned their new outfits Friday morning during a school assembly.

They year, the approximately 470 students also received a beanie with the Estes bulldog emblem on it. alongside the pajamas. The annual pajama drive is led by 1st-grade teacher Krystal Williams.

Williams said the lead-up to Pajama Day started in September as they worked to gather each student’s size. While it’s not a total surprise to the students, the pajama reveal is still full of excitement, Williams said.

“The students kind of expect it now, but still, to see the joy on their faces when they get a pair of pajamas is special,” Williams said.

Williams said that the school hosts the drive every year because they know the students benefit from the extra encouragement and the reminder that the school and the community care about the children.

She said, “It’s just a nice feeling to know that there are people out there that care enough to send in money for them, and that it’s not just their teachers sending money.”
