Aces beat Panthers by one stroke to win Local School Match

Shooting 146, Owensboro Catholic held off Daviess County by one stroke to win the weekly local school match. Vince Hayden shot a team-best 35 and finished second in the individual, while Luke Estes tied for third in the individual after shooting 36. John William Wathen (37) and Jace Merritt (38) rounded out the Aces’ top four.

“This past weekend tested us, but our team responded in the right way today,” Owensboro Catholic Head Coach Bretnea Harvey said. “Against programs that are always tough, our players showed tenacity, and I couldn’t be prouder of the way they contended to earn this win.”

Finishing second, Daviess County’s Collin Reynolds shot 34 to win the individual and Jackson Powers tied for third. Hunter Bullington shot 38, while Jacob Nolan and Jaxson Unsel both shot 39.

Shooting 154 and finishing third, Hancock County was led by Jacob Shultz, who shot 36 and tied with Powers and Estes for third in the individual. Jaxon Blake (38), Kolby Keown (40), and Ethan Heavrin (40) rounded out the Hornets’ top four.

Shooting 167, Apollo and Owensboro tied for fourth. Beau Brock (39), Kamdyn Ulmer (41), Brady Robbins (43), Lucas Cambron (44), and McCoy Taylor (44) rounded out the Eagles scores, while the Red Devils were led by Colby Vanover (40), Walker Gaddis (41), Paxton Divine (41), and Tyler Block (45).

Zachary Boarman shot 49 to lead the way for Trinity (Whitesville) (204), with Finn Williams (50), Grant Howard (52), and Will Mills (53) rounding out the team’s top four.
