Apollo beat Owensboro in a 9th District match, while Trinity (Whitesville) overcame a slow start to beat Edmonson County. In other action, Owensboro Catholic cruised past Grayson County, while McLean County lost on the road.

Avery Gray finished with 12 kills, five digs, and two service aces in the E-Gals’ 3-0 (25-14, 25-17, 25-18) win over Owensboro. Jessie Pate recorded 18 digs and three service aces, and Maddi Roberts finished with 17 assists and 14 digs.
“It was a great district win tonight,” Apollo Head Coach Mary Howard said. Our girls really brought it from behind the service line and executed well defensively. This team continues to show growth with every game.”
For Owensboro, Anna Travis finished with 18 assists, 15 digs, four blocks, one kill, and one service ace, while June Larsen had 19 digs. Ayrish Barksdale led the team in kills with eight, while Georgia Gabbert had a team-high six blocks.
“We have a lot we can learn from tonight’s game,” Owensboro Head Coach Mitchell Johnson said. “Tonight, we had a difficult time adjusting. Apollo came out ready and played a really clean game. They were able to keep their energy up and limit their mistakes.”
Hopkinsville 3, McLean County 1
Savannah Blades finished with a team-high 12 kills in the Lady Cougars’ 3-1 loss to Hopkinsville. Annie Shelton and Haylie Billerbeck both had seven kills, while Aubree Davies recorded two blocks and one kill.
“The girls started off slow, dropping the first two sets, but came back to take the third set,” McLean County Head Coach Traci Capps said. “Unfortunately, they fell short in the fourth. They fought hard and never gave up.”

Mayme Powell finished with a team-high 37 assists and added six kills, six digs, one block, and one service ace in the Lady Aces 3-0 (25-10, 25-18, 26-24) win over Grayson County. Ava Martin recorded 21 digs, 12 kills, two service aces, and one block, while Molly Arnold had 20 digs and two service aces.
Owensboro Catholic will be back in action Saturday for the All-A Regional.
Trinity (Whitesville) 3, Edmonson County 1
Emmy Edge finished with a team-high 24 assists and 18 digs in the Lady Raiders’ 3-1 (17-25, 25-17, 27-25, 25-20) win over Edmonson County. Gracie Mills had six service aces, six digs, and five kills, while Laney Mills had 14 digs.
“After the first set, I thought we settled in and played well,” Trinity (Whitesville) Head Coach Adam Huff said. We made some adjustments and were able to put some pressure on them with our attacks. I was proud of the way we finished the last three sets. Hopefully, we have some good momentum heading into the Al A Regional on Saturday.”
