Traveling to the Henderson Country Club, Daviess County shot 302 to win their fourth straight 2nd Region Championship. Owensboro Catholic shot 381 and finished sixth, while Owensboro shot 417 and placed eighth.

“This was the best team performance, probably in the history of Lady Panthers golf,” Daviess County Head Coach Jonas Billingsley said. “Our girls came prepared, and we have been working so hard all year long. It was very rewarding to see them with their fourth consecutive regional championship.”

Battling through rainy conditions and weather delays, Claire Reynolds led the way, shooting 72 and finishing second in the individual. Baylie Billingsley was right behind her, shooting 73 and finishing third in the individual, while Kennedi Minton (5th, 77) and Alexa Salamah (tied for 8th, 80) rounded out the team’s top four scores. Briley Billingsley shot 88 and tied for 15th in the individual.

“Team 302 beats our previous team record of 309 earlier this year,” Billingsley said. “Kennedi Minton showed up in a huge way, posting her personal best of 77 today. She was accompanied by an even par round of 72 by Claire and one one-over round of 73 for Baylie. Alexa rounded out our team performance with a very respectable 8. Briley had some struggles today, but it was great to see the other girls pick her up and finish first as a team.”

Ryann Kasey led the way for Owensboro, shooting 87 and finishing 15th in the individual, while Olive Harrison (103), Hampton Gaddis (110), and Avery Martin (117) rounded out the team’s top four scores. Kasey also qualified for semi state next Monday at the Calvert City Country Club.

Owensboro Head Coach Bryan Kasey was pleased with how his team handled the near four-hour weather delay and persevering through all 18 holes.

“The 2nd Region is such a tough region with two of the best teams in the state, and expectations were more of exposing this young team to the ‘regional tournament’ environment,” Kasey said. “It was the first regional tournament for two of our players. The future is bright, and now they have a glimpse of what all the practices and off-season work are for. Hopefully, they can use this experience to build for the future going forward.”
